Abbey McGee

Abbey McGee, Staff Writer

Abbey McGee is a senior, continuing her second year working onĀ The Wrangler staff. Outside of school, she enjoys playing video games, drawing, and listening to her favorite podcasts. During class, she’s attentive, and works hard to do her best. Abbey experiences a range of mental issues that she’s been working on improving, and as a result, writes a lot about the struggles that come with being mentally challenged. She’s still undecided as to where she is going to college, and what she is going to major in, but she knows she would like to do something she enjoys.

According to the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, Black History Month dates back to 1915. Carter G. Woodson, founder of the ASALH and Black History Month, chose the month of February for the observance because it includes the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.
