Sydney, Australia Hostage Situation
In the Lindt Chocolate Café in Sydney, Australia on Monday December 15, 2014 a gunman took hostage of seventeen people. It is said that some of the hostages were pressed against the café window, holding up a black flag that said in Arabic “There is no God but God and Mohammed is the prophet of God”.
A few hours into the 17 hour standoff, five hostages escaped the café. When night approached, all lights in the café went out.
Come Tuesday morning, the police could be seen throwing flash-bang grenades in the café. The Australian Special Forces and heavily armed police stormed the café that morning, killing the gunman. At the end of the day, 2 hostages had been killed out of the seventeen.
