The Importance of Learning a Foreign Language
Unlike in the United States, in many countries, children are taught more than one language from a young age. People grow up knowing how to speak two, three, even four languages, while most Americans are monolingual. Being multilingual in this increasingly globalizing world is a very important skill. It can help you when you travel, conducting international business, even dealing with foreign immigrants in the United States. Being proficient in a second language is a great advantage when applying for jobs, especially if you speak an uncommon language. So the moral of the story is: stay in your language classes. Having that language skill under your belt can be way more beneficial than you could imagine.
