The decline in quality for kid networks
When I was younger all I would watch was cartoons. I’m sure I’m not the only one that would watch Codename: Kids Next Door or Chowder or any other cartoon/show that would be on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, or the Disney Channel. I used to enjoy those channels when I was younger, but for the past few years I have noticed a decline in the quality of these shows. I don’t mean that they aren’t a lower definition, but that these channels are not putting out as many good shows anymore.
Cartoon Network recently has been putting out more and more shows because of the fact that a lot of their shows don’t make it past the first season. Shows like The Problem Solvers are a good example of these. Disney has leaned more toward the live action shows like Austin and Ally which isn’t a bad show. My one problem is that the newer Disney shows aren’t as good as they used to be. Everyone used to watch That’s so Raven or Even Stevens, but since then Disney hasn’t had a huge hit like those. Nickelodeon has a balance of both animated and live action shows which I also think is starting to slowly decline. SpongeBob has always been a great show on Nickelodeon and I still watch it every now and then. I watch this show thinking to myself “What happened?” because I remember SpongeBob was a show that was funny and weird at the same time, but now I notice that it has gotten less funny and more weird.
I’m not saying that every show on these channels is bad. There are some good shows like Adventure Time, Amazing world of Gumball, and others, I’m just saying that a majority of the shows have become experiments to see if people will actually watch it instead of just putting out something good. Even Cartoon Network went back to the old hit Teen Titans which is now Teen Titans GO, and the show is good but a majority of people I know that watch it said that they would have preferred if Cartoon Network had just started making new episodes of the original show.
