Howdy Longhorns! Welcome back to the fifth edition of the Longhorn Sports Report. This was yet another successful week here at The Ranch, so lets dive right in!
Coach Cavallo’s Longhorns are on a tear! The ‘Horns are now 4-0 after defeating the Austin Bulldogs 21-3. Deion Drinkard threw for 104 yards on six completions highlighted by a 65-yard bomb to Lane Walton to bring the Longhorns lead to 14-3. Jaden Shelton rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns as well. The defense picked up three interceptions with KJ McGuire, Brandon Mays, and Chase Adams all getting their hands on the ball. The Longhorns look forward to hosting the FB Travis Tigers at 6 pm Saturday, September 23rd, at Traylor Stadium. JV Maroon beat Austin and JV Black lost a close game to South Houston HS. The Longhorn freshman team beat Austin, 37-0.
Lady Longhorn Volleyball swept the FB Dulles Vikings out of the GR Competition Gym last Friday with a 3-0 win. Audrey Reue won player of the match for the GR Varsity squad! Coach Forshee’s team looks forward to facing FB Elkins Friday, September 22nd, at Elkins High School. Sub-Varsity Volleyball went undefeated in the FBISD Tourney to bring home the trophy back to GR!
Coach Witt’s Tennis Squad had another cancellation this past week. They’ll look forward to hosting FB Dulles Friday, September 22nd, on the GRHS courts.
Longhorn XC participated in the Texas A&M Invitational with the girls placing in 18th and the boys playing in 38th. Both programs compete in the LCISD Round-up Friday, September 22nd, at Jones Creek Ranch Park.
Longhorn Water Polo had an bye this past week. They’ll return to the pool Tuesday, September 19th, for a match with the FB Hightower Hurricanes. Good luck to them!
