Howdy Longhorns! Welcome back to another edition of the Longhorn Sports Report. This week we have more from each sport including some huge wins against huge rivals. Let’s dive right in.
Coach Cavallo’s GR Varsity Football Program improved its record to 2-0 after blowing Taylor High School out, 42-15. The offense was capitalized by two huge runs by Jaden Shelton, when he ran 69 yards for the first of two long touchdowns. Cade Marino had possibly the most impressive play of the night when he jumped a crossing route and brought it back 33 yards for a pick-six. Deion Drinkard also added two touchdowns on the night–one passing and one rushing. Drinkard found Kurveon Mitchell in the endzone for one score, and punched in an 8-yard touchdown run on a QB draw for the other. This huge win sets up the Longhorns for 20-6A play as they take on FB Clements High School Friday, September 8th, at Traylor Stadium.
Coach Forshee’s Varsity Volleyball Program got a huge 3-2 District win over FB Travis this past Friday here at the Ranch. Hailey Forshee took home player of the match against Travis after her impressive performance against the Tigers. This win improves their 20-6A record to 2-1 and overall record to 14-13. The Lady Longhorns are set to take on FB Ridge Point Wednesday, September 6th, at Ridge Point High School.
