Howdy Longhorns! Welcome back to the Longhorns Sports Report! This week we cover District matchups and tournament play! Let’s dive into it! 

Coach Henry’s Varsity Squad lost a tough match against last year’s 20-6a district champs,  FB Elkins High School, 55-34. The Longhorns struggled out the gate putting up just one point in the first quarter. After that they put up a respectable comeback effort, but a rough 3rd quarter sealed the deal even after outscoring the Knights in the 4th quarter. The ‘Horns looks to move on from this game against a 10-7 FB Clements High School on Tuesday, January 10th. 

Coach Trotter’s Varsity Girls Squad dropped a tight battle to FB Elkins 53-47.  They look forward to putting this game past them when they take on FB Clements High School on Tuesday, January 10th.

Boys Soccer went 2-1 in the Katy ISD Invitational picking up wins against Scarborough HS (3-0) and O’Conner HS (2-0).  Joshua Matula, Eduardo Scotia, and Zaki Dean picked up the Longhorns’ three goals vs Scarborough, while Armani Obsasi and Joshua Matula (again) scored against O’Conner.  A great first tournament for the ‘Horns leading into their first 20-6a District match on Tuesday, January 10th, against FB Clements. This weekend the Longhorns also play in a three-game tournament against Cypress Ridge HS, Westbury HS, and Royal HS on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, respectively. 

Lady Longhorns Soccer went 1-2 in the Waller ISD Tournament with their lone win being on penalties against Clear Falls HS.  Tompkins HS continue to be a thorn in the girls’ side as the Lady Longhorns could not get their revenge for last year falling 2-0.  The Lady Longhorns are looking forward to their first 20-6a District match against FB Clements on Tuesday, January 10th. They also play tournament against Cypress Woods this weekend with other games TBD.
