The Sing franchise continues with Sing 2, released December 22, and surprisingly some feel that it surpasses the original. Directed by Garth Jennings and produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, this movie has already grossed $150.3 million at the box office worldwide, $22.3 million of that in the first week.
Taking to the stage in the glitzy entertainment capital of the world, theater director and owner of Moon Theater, Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) is preparing his incredible cast of animal performers for the extravagant new show they’re about to launch for bigshot Jimmy Crystal (Bobby Cannavale). In spite of all the excitement, Moon is soon faced with reality when he discovers that he must convince the world’s most secluded rock icon, Clay Calloway (Bono) to accompany them.
Buster and his crew desire to break free of the local fame they have been confined to, and this show is their one way ticket to success.
This movie features music from today’s biggest artists combined with bright, eye-catching animation to keep children and parents entertained from beginning to end. The animation does a flawless job at portraying the sad and heartbroken demeanor of Clay Calloway. With his stoic expressions and his closed off body language, viewers can truly understand what Calloway is going through.
“Every character design really fits the personality of the characters and what you’re going to get out of them. Overall it kept my attention and it was captivating,” Junior Emanuel Dawson said, after watching the film.
This movie is perfect for children and those who enjoy big-time music artists and actresses like Tori Kelly, Halsey, and Scarlet Johansson. Sing 2 delivers the wonderful message to dream big for friends and families as well as an inspiring and heartwarming story about Buster Moon and his crew on their journey to success.
