Although most people have heard of the world-famous brand Gucci, very few people were aware of the dramatic history behind it. That was until the dramatic Crime movie House of Gucci exposed the problematic backstory to one of the most coveted designed brands to date.
House of Gucci hit the theaters on November 24 of 2021. The film’s release coincided with the brand’s 100 anniversary. The movie was directed by Ridley Scott and stars actors Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, and Jared Leto.
The movie is based on the 2001 book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed by Sara Gay Forden.
The film follows the main characters Patrizia Reggiani, played by Gaga, and her husband, Maurizio Gucci, played by Driver through the years. The couple’s romance starts as a tale of love beyond status and wealth but quickly turns into a power-hungry struggle for control of the flourishing company.
Patrizia’s unhinged ambition and reckless demeanor begins to unravel the family legacy and causes Maurizio to become the ruthless businessman he had always dreaded seeing in his late father. The couple makes enemies of Maurizio’s cousin and uncle, Aldo and Paolo Gucci, when they framed Aldo for tax evasion and tricked Paolo into selling his shares of the company.
This film is filled with elegant and high-dollar sets and designs. Costume designer Janty Yates uses staple looks from Gucci and others brands to highlight the expensive taste and material traits of the entire Gucci Family.

The film highlights the struggle of running a world-famous brand and the corruption that money and power have on the relationships within the family. Family turns against each other in the fight to become rich and successful.
