Skai Jackson Dedicates A Dance to Her Late Co-star Cameron Boyce
Skai Jackson plays tribute to Cameron Boyce in a tender and emotional dance.
Actress and Disney child star, Skai Jackson, is a contestant on Season 29 of Dancing with the Stars. This week she decided to dedicate her dance to her late former co-star, friend, and fellow Disney Channel child-actor Cameron Boyce.
Jackson joined Boyce on the hit Disney show, Jessie. He also starred in the Disney Channel movie series Descendants. Kids of the new generation adored his fun-loving attitude, his adorable looks and sayings, and his dancing skills.
On July 6, 2019, Boyce died of an epileptic seizure while sleeping. Many kids who grew up watching him, along with many celebrities such as Debby Ryan, Keith Powers, and Dove Cameron took to social media to express their grief over the child star’s death, but it seemed like almost nobody was as distraught as Jackson.
“It just makes me like a little bit sad of course he’s not right here, but I know that he would be really proud of me. I know that he loved Dancing With the Stars and he loved dancing, so that’s why I’m really excited like just to do this dance because it is for him,” Jackson said.
When Boyce died, Jackson posted a video that went viral of him singing Ordinary People by John Legend. Jackson decided to dedicate her dance to Boyce by dancing to this very song.
Jackson is partnered with Dancing With the Stars professional dancer Alan Bersten. They both performed a traditional ballroom style, the Foxtrot. The judges and fellow contestants thought it was beautiful, emotional, and touching. There was a sense of elegance in the ballroom as she swayed across the floor.
Needless to say, she nailed it.
Dancing with the Stars judge and former professional dancer, Carrie Ann Inaba, was brought to tears by the emotional tribute.
“I am sure that Cameron is watching you right now and he’s so proud of you,” Inaba said while judging.
Due to her top-quality dancing and emotion, Jackson received a twenty-eight out of thirty, which the highest score of the night and the first ten given in the new season.
All Jackson wanted to do on this night was make her friend proud. The fact that Jackson received a high score and many compliments from the judges, it is easy to say that it was simply satisfying to see Jackson pour her soul into her tribute.
Boyce certainly would be proud.
