Mums have been a Southern tradition for over 60 years. This year, the GRHS Band Booster Club is continuing that tradition. During the weeks before Homecoming, the Booster Club will be selling mums for all who want to buy them. These mums will have many different designs and can also be added to later. Mums were first made using flowers as the center, usually chrysanthemums, hence the name. Now, silk flowers and stuffed animals have replaced the flowers as the center. Given to homecoming dates, mums have become a huge tradition in Texas, including George Ranch.
