Since the last episode of season 7 of Game of Thrones, fans have been left anxiously anticipating the fate of Westeros and all the beloved characters within the fantastical world. The hit HBO show, inspired by George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novels, was an instant classic with viewers. Throughout the past 7 seasons, fans have seen their favorite characters killed, raped, or tortured in unimaginable ways. The show’s writers have really put our favorite characters through the wringer, and the newest season is no exception. Supposedly coming out in April 2019, fans still await the return of GoT. So what happens next?

Season 7 left viewers with a wide range of mixed emotions. Here’s a spoiler alert if you’re not all caught up on Game of Thrones! It turns out that Jon Snow is not Ned Stark’s bastard after-all; he is actually a Targaryen. He also recently slept with Daenerys Targaryen, who is actually Snow’s aunt. That just complicates things onto a whole other level. Also in season 7, one of Daenerys’ dragons died and became a white walker, so it is quite possible that her other dragons will die at the hands of this walking-dead dragon. Lastly, Game of Thrones is “a song of ice and fire”. Throughout the show, Daenerys is seen as the ‘fire’ because of her dragons and her fire-proof abilities. Jon Snow is seen as the ‘ice’ because he is a northern man and King in the North; he grew up in the north and lived beyond the wall, surrounded by snow his entire life. Since the two of them are opposing forces who both have claim to the Iron Throne, what will happen between them? It is possible they will marry and rule together, but more likely one of them will die and the other will rule the throne. But the question is: who will win the game of thrones? Fire or Ice? Only season 8 can tell us this, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Much like Game of Thrones, the hit Netflix show Stranger Things took a break from releasing episodes in 2018. However, they have announced that the newest season is being released on July 4th, 2019. Where will the new season take fans exactly? Well, the latest season is supposedly based in the summer, which makes sense considering the release date. But fans still wonder what troubles will taunt the children in this season or hoping they’ll finally find peace. A few hints fans have been given for season 3 are a list of the episode titles, and a short trailer featuring Joe Keery who plays Steve. It seems like the people of Hawkins will be getting a brand new mall this season.

From another popular streaming company, Hulu’s hit show, The Handmaid’s Tale, is expected to release season 3 in the spring of 2019. If you haven’t seen The Handmaid’s Tale yet, the show focuses on the story of a handmaid named ‘Offred’ in a future dystopian American society. The show features some gruesome events, such as young women being forced into a modern-day form of sexual slavery. People, especially women are subjected to all sorts of cruel treatment from the new “government”. There are many twists and turns that leave viewers with a strange feeling in the pit of their stomachs.

Also coming out this year: Shameless returns to Showtime on January 20th to continue with season 9. Rick and Morty’s fourth season may be released at the end of 2019, most likely in the winter, but it’s possible the wait might be even longer. 2019 seems like it’s going to be an interesting year in television, and I can’t wait to see what these exciting shows bring into their new seasons.
