The Wrangler: What sports do you participate in?

Wandling: I participate in cross country and band.

The Wrangler: What inspired you to be in cross country?

Wandling: My brother did it when he went to George Ranch, so it seemed fun to me.

The Wrangler: What inspired you to be in band?

Wandling: I was into music, so I tried out the instruments and decided on clarinet. I realized that band was perfect for me.

The Wrangler: How do you prepare for a band contest?

Wandling: I listen to music on the bus and take a long nap to get myself mentally ready for the contest.

The Wrangler: What advice would you give to people who would want to join cross country?

Wandling: I would tell them to join street races before you join the sport so that you can have some experience and see if you really like the sport. You don’t have to be good at it initially, because you’re going to get better.

The Wrangler: Were there any obstacles you faced when you joined cross country and band at the same time?

Wandling: There were some conflicts between Cross Country games and the football games but I just communicated between both the coaches and directors to work things out.

The Wrangler: Did you make any friends after you joined cross country?

Wandling: I made friends with the upper class-men and became close friends with them during runs and workouts

The Wrangler: Did you also make friends when you joined band?

Wandling: Yes, I had my sophomore friends and I also made friends with upperclassmen and underclassmen in my section.

The Wrangler: Why do you love band and cross country?

Wandling: Even though it’s a lot of hard work, in the end it pays off and I made a lot of memories and close friends, its enjoyable to do because I’m in to music and running.

The Wrangler: Do you have any hobbies other than running and listening to music?

Wandling: I sometimes do crafts and draw during my free time or when I’m bored, because it makes me feel relaxed.

The Wrangler: How long you been in cross country and band?

Wandling: I’ve been in cross country for 4 years and I’ve been in band for 5 years.
