A school shooting has occured in Florida

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School

At about 1:30 pm CT, a shooter opened fire inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The shooter remained out of police custody for about an hour but was apprehended at about 3 pm. A SWAT team and FBI agents were present at the high school around the time the shooter was apprehended.

The initial report was 20-50 injured, but was reduced to 14.

According to NBC news, “…students were hiding in closets at the school, and teachers had told them not leave the building.”

The Broward Sheriff’s office has stated that there are fatalities, but an official number has not been released.

The Broward Sheriff’s office released a tweet regarding the incident.
