An Update On Our Hero: Bartolo
A return to our favorite MLB star.
February 5, 2018
If you haven’t viewed my previous article where I detail the career of the legendary Bartolo Colon, you can check that out here.
Ah, Bartolo. 2017 was a busy year for you. Two teams, and some minor league time.
After 2016, you went Mets -> Braves -> Twins.
In 2017 you pitched in 143 innings and ended with a 7-14 record with a 6.48 ERA. You powered to 89 strikeouts while allowing 35 walks and giving up 28 homeruns. Finally, your WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) was 1.59.
Not your best year, but we still love you.
Your twins made it to the 2017 Wild Card game, but lost 8-4. (Probably because you didn’t pitch that game)
Now that the 2017 season has ended, you’ve entered free agency again.
There have been rumors.
Rumors of a great thing.
Rumors of Your Legendary arm entering The Lone Star State.
Yes, The Texas Rangers have begun to talk of a minor league deal you, Big Sexy.
As a Rangers fan, I am more than content. It feels as if a life-long dream is coming true.
I will buy your jersey. I will find you at spring training. I will watch every start.
The rangers will be your 11th MLB team and while you’re 45 and at your 22nd MLB season, I couldn’t be happier.
So, from down here in the Lone Star State, we welcome you Bartolo. We welcome you with all out hearts.
