Nurse Vivian speaks to a student in her office
The flu is here and many people have the bug. The school environment is perfect for disease to spread. That being the case, Nurse Vivian would like to remind you to stay home if you have a fever.
Flu symptoms vary from person to person. In general, people who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms, according to the CDC:
Fever or feeling feverish/chills although not everyone gets a fever
Sore throat
Cough
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Unusual fatigue
Vomiting and diarrhea (this is more common in children than adults)
District policy states that a student with a fever 100 degrees or above must stay home until they are fever free, without medication for 24 hours.
Students are reminded best ways to prevent spreading germs are to stay home when sick and to wash hands with soap.
