The Wrangler: What is your SoundCloud username and why did you choose it?
Walters: My SoundCloud username is A-DOWG696 and I chose it because I wanted people to be like, “Ayy dawg, what’s up?”
The Wrangler: When did you create your SoundCloud profile?
Walters: I created it in junior year, in AP Environmental Science, sitting in the front row of class, probably during spring semester.
The Wrangler: What inspired you to create it?
Walters: I was sitting in class one day, and I just had this sudden urge to create music, and I made a song.
The Wrangler: What was your first song titled and what was it about?
Walters: My first song is titled ‘APES’ and it’s about sitting in the front row of AP Environmental Science and making a song.
The Wrangler: How do you make music?
Walters: I use an app on my iPhone called Garageband, and just make beats with my heart, and whatever it tells me to do.
The Wrangler: Have you ever considered producing an EP album in the future?
Walters: No, I don’t really want to make an EP because I just kind of make songs when the idea pops up in my head, and the songs wouldn’t have a theme, they would just follow randomly occurring events.
The Wrangler: Would you be interested in furthering your music into a career?
Walters: No, I don’t want to further my music into a career, because I feel like careers kill the creative process, and all the outside influences might tell me to stop being me, but I want to stay being me.
The Wrangler: Are you in the process of making new music?
Walters: Yes, I actually have a couple new songs in the works. I don’t want to spoil what they’re about, but it’s good stuff.
The Wrangler: What do you hope to accomplish with your music?
Walters: Have fun, make people happy, and laugh!
The Wrangler: What impact has your music had in your life?
Walters: Well, it has definitely allowed me to have fun, make friends, and create memories.
The Wrangler: Could you tell us about the meaning behind one of your songs?
Walters: Well, one of my new songs is called ‘This Boat’, and during hurricane Harvey, [my family] had a boat sitting in front of our house, and our street started to flood. So I started thinking, “This boat is about to float,” and that’s where the inspiration for ‘This Boat’ came from.
