Shawn Mendes is a 18 year old pop singer/songwriter, making his way to the top of the charts. He is the youngest artist to make a debut single in the top 25. Mendes just released his second album Illuminate, September 23rd, 2016 more than a year after his first album Handwritten.

Mendes new album Illuminate is a mix of happy and uplifting songs. He puts feeling and character into every word he sings. Mendes gives advice to young teenagers through his words and tries relating his songs to what he may be going through or what others are doing.

In his song “Understand”, there is a moment where the music stops and he starts to speak a short monologue to the audience about how “changing isn’t a bad thing it never was” and to stay true to who you are.

This album is by far one of the best mix of emotions and positive vibe feelings you could get from an album. If you love pop music or just music in general I recommend listening to this album.
