BASKETBALL: Come join us for the third annual Moonlight Madness Pep Rally to kick off basketball season here at the Ranch on Saturday, October 29th at 7pm. This year we will be joined by 97.9 the Box and the Harlem Dream, who will be playing our very own GRHS All Stars. If you want to see some High flying Dunks, crazy basketball moves, and tons of free give aways, you don’t want to miss this. Tickets are $10 and are sold at the Student Service Window, or see one of the girls or boys basketball players. Harlem athletes will be signing autographs after the game. There are limited amount of tickets being sold, so get your tickets today!
LACROSSE: We are looking for you! The GRHS lacrosse team is currently recruiting new players for the 2017 season that starts in January. We are hosting a FREE clinic to all boys, ages 6th-12th grades on Saturday, November 12th from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Greatwood Recreation Center. Free donuts at 8:00 a.m. Bring water, a lacrosse stick if you have one, and wear tennis shoes. No other equipment is needed and the team will have plenty of sticks for you to use. We will work on passing drills, cradling technique, shooting skills and ball handling. No experience necessary. VOLLEYBALL: The Longhorn Volleyball program traveled to Alief Elsik Friday night and came home with 3 wins. The freshman squad defeated Elsik with scores of 25-13 and 25-20. The JV team dominated the match and easily took down Elsik with scores of 25-8 and 25-7. The varsity team defeated the Lady Rams in 3 straight sets with scores of 25-10, 25-21, and 25-13. Kill leaders were Valerie Valerian with 19 and Kennedy Prince with 12. Set assist leaders wereAlaina Lanik with 14 and Mady Rathmell with 11. Block Leaders were Valerie Valerian with 3 and Cassie Coker with 3. Dig leaders were Brianna Franklin with 10 and Cheyenne Horst with 10. Serve ace leader was Audrey Tuttle with 7 aces. Serve receive leaders were Audrey Tuttlewith 12 and Valerie Valerian with 9.
VARSITY FOOTBALL: Our football suffered a tough 13-7 loss this past Friday night, October 21st, to the Pearland Oilers. We look forward to getting back in the winning column and establish a playoff berth as we take on the Elsik Rams this Friday; game time 7:00 PM Traylor Stadium. We look forward to seeing you there!
