Howdie Tina Bilic!
September 16, 2016
Tina Bilic is a senior who is most known for her love of crocs as well as naps. Most would describe her as amusing and amiable. Her friends say she is always a joy to be around and can really uplift ones spirits.
The Wrangler: What are you looking forward to now that you are finally a senior?
Bilic: I’m excited to finally graduate and finally be the Queen of the School.
The Wrangler: Do you have any off period? If yes/no, why or why not?
Bilic: Yes, I have first off because I like to sleep in.
The Wrangler: You are known for how much you prioritize your naps. Is there any specific reason as to why you do?
Bilic: I think the key to a good education is to not stress yourself out because If you’re studying all the time you’re going to burn yourself out. But if you get home and take a one to a two-hour nap, I prefer two hours, you’ll wake up energized and feel like you can do stuff.
The Wrangler: How many times do you nap a day?
Bilic: Oh, just once on school days.
The Wrangler: In what ways has napping affected your sleep schedule or interfered with school work?
Bilic: Well, my sleep schedule is completely whack. So I go to bed around 1 a.m., just because I don’t get tired until then and I can’t go to sleep unless my eyes are literally like closing by themselves. [Napping hasn’t really interfered with my school work] I get it done still.
The Wrangler: Do you feel that napping has impacted who you are in any way? How?
Bilic: Well, since you said that I am known for my naps, obviously, I feel like it’s shaped me. I mean I don’t want people to think that I’m lazy but I guess I got more of a laid-back attitude and I’m known for that.
The Wrangler: How has your social life been impacted by napping?
Bilic: Whenever my friends need me, usually they’ll text me like in a group chat and they’ll ask everybody a question and if I don’t respond, they’ll just assume I’m napping and they’ll be like, “Oh Tina is just napping”. Some people get mad at me for it because I’m not there, but most of them understand.
The Wrangler: You are known for being really mellow does that change if you miss your nap?
Bilic: Oh yes it does! If I don’t nap or if I’m disrupted from my nap, I get really cranky. I know that makes me sound like a baby, but I do. For example, if I’m trying to fall asleep or something and everybody is making noise, which is fine because it’s me that’s napping, they don’t have to change their lifestyle or whatever to fit me, but the tiniest little thing can set it off and I won’t fall asleep. Then, I just get irrationally angry with myself and I’m like, “Well I guess I’m just not going to sleep ever again.” And then I still end up going to sleep at 1 a.m.
The Wrangler: Do you remember when the napping started?
Bilic: Maybe sophomore year of high school, late sophomore year. It didn’t get frequent until like Junior year though.
The Wrangler: Do you feel that you would be a different person if you stopped napping?
Bilic: I feel like it wouldn’t change my mellowness or laid-backness. I don’t know. I’m unsure, [laughs]. It wouldn’t change who I am as a person though, I feel like maybe I’d just be more tired all the time. If we’re being honest, I’d just be more tired.
The Wrangler: Does your napping schedule change for school breaks and during the school year? If so how?
Bilic: During the school year I nap a lot more. During the summer or even the weekends I never nap. Mainly because I get up late.
The Wrangler: Would you recommend your napping schedule to others?
Bilic: Yeah, it’s really chill. And it’s nice and peaceful. I’m not really stressing out when I get home like, “oh look at all the homework I have to do”. I take some time, eat a snack, and then I’ll take my nap. [When I wake up] my mind will be really clear and it makes me want to do school work and study.
The Wrangler: Is there anything you’d like to add?
Bilic: I want the school to stop the crocs slander. Crocs are durable and comfortable to wear with socks.
