By Bailey Holton, Staff Writer

Ruhi Patel is a sophomore here at the Ranch, who is involved in Cross Country. The Wrangler got a chance to sit down with her and discover her part in the Longhorn Nation.

The Wrangler: Are you involved in any activities at George Ranch?

Patel: Yes, Cross Country and FFA.

The Wrangler: What made you want to join Cross Country ?

Patel: It was kind of just random, I was in athletics and really didn’t know what to do, my coach asked me if I wanted to do distance or sprints and I started to become better at it.

The Wrangler: What is your favorite part of the sport?

Patel: When we go to the meets and everyone is cheering for you, it gets really hype.

The Wrangler: How has being in Cross Country improved you as a person?

Patel: Tess, Katia, and the people on my team help me with running and boost my confidence.

The Wrangler: How are you able to manage school work with meets and practices?

Patel: You kind of just have to make a schedule for yourself and stick to it.

The Wrangler: Do you enjoy early morning practices associated with Cross Country?

Patel: Yeah, it’s a lot better than having after school practices, because it is not as hot.

The Wrangler: What has been your biggest accomplishment in Cross Country so far?

Patel: My biggest accomplishment in Cross Country so far has been going to Regionals, but this year I want to go to state.

The Wrangler: Do you plan to do Cross Country in the future?

Patel: I do plan to do it in the future, I hope to do it in college and when I get older.

The Wrangler: What goals do you have this year for Cross Country?

Patel: My goals this year for Cross Country is [are] to get faster and also [to] be in the top, instead of kind of at the bottom.
