BORNS’ Dopamine

Garrett Borns, or BØRNS, is a 24 year old singer and songwriter. Although he has released other albums like Candy (2014) he is widely known for his album Dopamine, released October 16, 2015. BØRNS music ranges from indie to psychedelic,to alternative pop songs. These genres are thoroughly represented in his most recent songs.
While growing up in Michigan, Borns took piano lessons and eventually attended a prestigious music camp during the summers. This and numerous other inspirations, including visual arts, heavily influenced his future music. Throughout high school and college, Borns played many gigs. He ended up living in LA where he wrote most of his songs and today is touring the country performing his album Dopamine.

- Electric Love– This song may be the one most people know due to the fact that it was played on many local radio stations including 104.1 and 94.5. This song has a laid-back techno feel to it. Electric Love is definitely a song you want to replay over and over again as BØRNS’ smooth voice has a seductive tone to it.
- American Money- On the Spotify session, there is a live performance of American Money at the SXSW 2015 where BØRNS states that “this song is for all the stripers out there.” The song falls under the indie pop category. It covers the

- Past Lives- This song starts out very slow and passionate as BØRNS showcases his higher registar, then continues to a more upbeat and fun song. The artist seems to be singing about a women he just met but fells like he’s known in a past life.

Overall the album is a very laid-back and interesting. Though some of the songs may sound similar, they are all unique and show BØRNS passion towards his music.
