CHEERLEADING: If you are interested in trying out for the 2016-2017 Cheerleading Squad, packets are now available at the Student Service Window. There is a mandatory candidate/parent meeting scheduled for Monday, February 22, 2016 at 6:30pm in the LGI.
LACROSSE: The lacrosse team had a tough loss against Strake Jesuit (8 to 11). But, they fought ’til the end with goals scored by Evan Ameen, Braden Bump and Jackson DeFrayne. And, congratulations to Graysen Watson & Zach Canon for their first career goals scored! Assists were made by Reed Schnitger, Christian Bass, Justus Williams and Jackson DeFrayne. Jackson DeFrayne had a stand out game with 4 goals and 2 assists! Defense was led by Kevin Singleton, Brad Boubel, Magnum Cates, Michael Payne and Gavin Hunter. A strong performance in net by Thomas Thaxton. Our next game is Thursday, Feb. 18, 7 pm, at Strake Jesuit.
TENNIS: The varsity tennis team traveled to Angleton this past Friday, February 12 for their annual tennis tournament. The Longhorns placed and/or earned medals in 7 of the 10 draws. The varsity team will be back in action on Friday in the FBISD tournament. Highlight from the Angleton tournament are; Jonathon Tan took 3rd in the boys B singles draw. Hannah Rosenbaum took 3rd in the girls A singles draw. Cassie Chen took third in the girls B singles draw. Rachel Dziuk and Alessandra Jara won first place in the girls A doubles draw. Joey Ballone and An Nguyen won the consolation draw in boys A doubles. Jake Berry and Ryan Cao won 1st place in the boy B doubles draw. Noah Joe and Bryce McKinnon took third in the boy B doubles draw. Trevor Sellers and Julia White took second in the B mixed draw.
SOCCER: The JV Boys soccer team tied Foster 2-2 on Friday, February 12. Goals were scored by Emanuel Santos & Evan Elkins. The Varsity Boys soccer team lost to Foster 3- 1 on Friday. The goal was scored by Senior Midfielder & captain Yassine Kettani.
TRACK: Saturday, February 13, a few of our Longhorn Varsity boys track and field team competed at the Bubba Fife track meet in Katy, Tx at Tompkins HS. The Boys Distance Medley Finished 11th with a time of 11:39.84 The relay members were: Hunter Davis, Hunter Breeze, Brett Mottin and Josh Triesh and the 4×800 placed 10th. Members were Hunter Davis, Hunter Breeze, Brett Mottin and Josh Triesh. In the 100m dash, Jairon McVea competed but due to technical difficulties the results haven’t been posted. In the 300h LeRoy Franklin posted a Personal Best of 40.00 seconds and placed 2nd over all. What a way to open up the season. The Longhorns will be competing next at Seven Lakes High School. Come out and support the team as they put on a show.
