Review: KathleenLights + ColourPop collaboration

By Kate Anderson, Staff Writer

KathleenLights is a YouTuber that posts beauty videos on her account. These range from makeup tutorials, reviews of makeup products and basic vlogs for her to catch up with her fans. She is wise beyond her years and is a flawless human specimen with or without makeup, and many of my own makeup looks have come from her. In the past, Kathleen has collaborated with ColourPop to create her “Where the Light is” eyeshadow quad, but on December 26th she released her second collaboration with the company. The eyeshadow quad is called “Where the Night is” with four bold new colors and along with that two new ‘lippie’ sticks and pencils, which is what I will be reviewing today.

The first shade is “Aquarius” which is a nude, pink shade with a cream finish. This set comes with a reusable lip liner and the actual lip stick and is named after Kathleen’s astrological sign.IMG_7649“Aquarius” Lippie PencilThis lip liner applies so well and beautifully. It is the perfect shade for an every day lip look. The shade is a little bit lighter pink than the stick, but over all it is a great quality and gets the job done to line your lips. You can wear this alone all over your lips or pair it with the “Aquarius” lippie stick. This product is $5.

IMG_7652“Aquarius” Lippie StickThis lip color has a cream finish, which means it is not matte and it feels like a more stylish chapstick. While it is not very long wearing you can reapply it through out the day. It is a great everyday color that can be worn alone or with the “Aquarius” lippie stick. This product is $5 and is comparable to the $30 Kylie Lip Kit shade “Candy K”.

The second shade is “Taurus” which is a warm, brown shade with a matte finish.  This set comes with a reusable lip liner and the actual lip stick and is named after Kathleen’s husband’s astrological sign.IMG_7648

“Taurus” Lippie PencilJust like all of ColourPop’s lip liners, this one has an easy application and works perfectly to keep your lipstick on your lips instead of on your face. This is a warm brown color that could be worn day to day but is especially good for a vamped up night time look. This can be worn alone all over your lips or you can apply the “Taurus” lippie stix on top. This product  is $5.

“Taurus” Lippie StixThis lip stick has a matte finish which means it looks completely  dried and not shiny. It is more long wearing than the “Aquarius” lippie stix which is really good to last all night. Again, you can wear this color alone or with the matching lippie pencil. This is also comparable to the $30 Kylie Lip Kit shade “True Brown K” and this product costs only $5.
