BOYS BASKETBALL: The Freshman B team defeated Mayde Creek Rams 45-16. Players of the game were Daniel Yisa, Josiah Kakoga, and Ezeugo Njoku. Freshman A team lost to Mayde Creek 49-52 in double overtime. Players of the game were Ej Brumfield, Chuks Uzoka, Noah Thomasson, and Jay’ren Miller. JV B team beat Mayde Creek 43-41 in overtime. The team was led by Ord Limbrick and Brayden McKnight. JV A team defeated the Mayde Creek Rams. The team led by Jordan Johnson and Isaac Sullivan. The Varsity team lost a tough game to the Mayde Creek Rams 57-48. The team was led by Mike Okonkwo and Brian Akanwa.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: The George Ranch Women’s basketball team took on Needville and came out with a win. The JV won 45-26 with Jerrica Simon leading the way with 16 points. The Varsity won with a score of 49-45 with Alexis White scoring 13. The next game will be tonight, December 1st at home against Katy.
GOLF: The boys JV golf team won the Austin high school JV tournament held Monday at Pecan Grove Country Club by 15 shots over second place Katy Taylor and 26 shots over third place Ridge Point. Sophomore Thomas Kuznar won the individual title with his round of 80, which was 6 shots better than second place. Connor Rodriguez finished fourth place individually with his round of 87. Freshman Jason Montgomery had his first top ten finish with his 91. Aaron Taylor-98 and Hunter Shultz-105 rounded out the team
SOCCER: Girls soccer tryouts will be held from 4:00-5:45pm on November 30th through December 2nd. If you are interested in being a part of the Longhorn Girl’s Soccer program, please see Coach Pratt in Room 1511 for more information. Remember you must have a completed LCISD athletic physical on file to tryout! Boys Soccer will be having tryouts on Tuesday, December 1st through Thursday, December 3rd. Please see Coach Torres in Room 2319 to sign up. You must have an athletic physical on file to participate. TRACK: If you are interested in trying out for the boys track & field team, Try outs start Nov. 30th. Try outs will be 4pm-5:15pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on the track. Be ready to workout and BE ON TIME!!! Make sure you have a physical on file. If you don’t go see the head athletic trainer (DOC) for further details. All females that are interested in trying out for girls track and field team needs to see Coach A. Dutch before or after school in the fieldhouse by November 24, 2015. Mandatory Tryouts will be from November 30th to December 15th after school. You must have an athletic physical on file, online paperwork and be in good standing with your academics, behavior and attendance. VARSITY FOOTBALL: This weekend our Longhorn Football team took on the Bryan Vikings in the 3rd round of the playoffs in a winning effort beating the Vikings 48-28!! The Vikings came out strong scoring 21 points in the 1st quarter the most points allowed in the 1st quarter this year by our Longhorns. The game appeared to be getting out of hand early but…our team rallied together and scored 36 consecutive points after being down 21 to 12 at the end of the 1st quarter. Our Longhorns scored on big plays, including a 70-yard pass to Quinton Morris, with defense – Miles Thompson’s 25-yard interception return – and three sacks by Toby Ndukwe, as well as a safety. This Friday let’s pack the house as we take on the Temple Wildcats in the 4th round of the playoffs. The game will be played at the Berry Center, game time 7:30 pm!! Tell all of your family and friends to come out, this game will be the best game of the year!! Tickets are on sale during lunches $7 Adult/$5 students, $10 at the gate.
